The Jamar
Company’s Safety/Loss Prevention Program, designed
to reduce loss in the company and allow us to provide
quality, efficient and cost-effective services to our
customers, includes:
- Project
and task pre-planning incorporating safety into our projects from conception to completion.
- Supervisor
safety training on OSHA/MSHA standards, rules
and regulations for compliance and safety/loss prevention
including the OSHA 10 Hour, MSHA Part 48 and leadership skills.
- Dedicated
site safety professionals.
- Communicating
safety and loss prevention concerns to all
employees.
- Performing
regular inspections and taking prompt action on
hazards, unsafe working conditions, unsafe acts and other factors that could result in loss.
- Prompt
and thorough investigation of every loss to identify the cause and take corrective action.
- A points-based
incentive program that reinforces positive behavior
via reward (and penalty) points given to the employee
and supervisor for safe (or unsafe) work site practices.

JAMAR COMPANY WON THE X-CUP AWARD FOR EXCELLENCE IN LOSS PREVENTION AND RISK MANAGEMENT
Jamar Company recently picked up the 1st Annual X-Cup award from
the APi Group, Inc. Risk Management Department. The award was given to recognize Jamar’s "Excellence in Loss Prevention and Risk Management" efforts in 2006. The criteria utilized for
the selection included performance with respect to risk management
goals & objectives established by APi Group. The categories that were evaluated included, but were
not limited to:
- An entity EMR < the Corporate EMR of .74
- An OSHA Total Recordable Incident Rate (TRIR) < 3.0
- An OSHA Frequency Rate (FR) of 0.0
- A Total Incurred Loss Cost / Hour < $.30 / Hour
- Entity has a Company Safety Committee that generates corrective action plans and maintains
safety awareness
- Entity has committed itself to the STEPS Program / Process.
Jamar received the official X-Cup trophy as well as a luncheon for their employees honoring
their outstanding performance in 2006. The trophy will remain at Jamar until it is
awarded again next Spring. In addition, a banner was presented to Jamar to be displayed in
the location of their choice.
