If you haven’t seen it by now, Duluth’s largest downtown commercial development in the history of the city is well underway. The new maurices Headquarters will be located at 425 W. Superior Street.
The building is approximately 200,000 square feet, stands 11 stories in height, and spans an entire city block. The project cost in total is in excess of $70 million. maurices is investing $50 million and the City of Duluth is investing $20 million for the public parking ramp and skywalk, owned and operated by the city, located on floors 3-6.
It was a little over a year ago that Jamar was awarded the complete design/build contract for the mechanical and plumbing of the building. Our stake in the project is valued at about $8 million. Greg Carlson is the project manager for Jamar’s work on the mechanical and plumbing. Louie Pufall and Brent Folkestad are the foreman onsite. Ben Carlson and Pat DeGrood are the site Field Engineers.
Shortly after we were also awarded the contract for the roofing and siding. Mike Billings is the Project Manager. Our work on the roofing and siding will include:
- Fully adhered tan TPO roofing
- Terrace waterproofing, elevated paver pedestal system, and planter boxes
- Exterior Metal Wall Panel Systems (including the air barrier and insulation systems)
- Column covers and beam wraps
- Cor-Ten wall panels
- Stainless steel light beacons
- Exterior louvers
The construction of this new building is adding about 250 construction jobs over two years. Tentative completion is scheduled for April 2016.
