Earlier this month, Jamar held an interactive Safety meeting about the importance of the using the Job Safety Analysis (JSA). Jamar’s JSA is a procedure which helps integrate safety and health principles and practices into a particular task or job. Each step of the JSA is to identify potential hazards and the safest way to do the job, to eliminate the risk of injury to workers.
Employees were given scenarios and asked to work in small groups to identify the potential risks involved and ways perform the work safely. Each group completed their JSA, and then shared their findings with the other groups. Not surprisingly, different trades had identified different potential hazards of each scenario and ways to mitigate the risks.
In ongoing efforts to emphasize the importance of the JSA, we recently held a Safety Stand-Down. Each job site took additional time in the morning meeting where Field Supervisors and Safety personnel were on hand to answer questions and gather valuable feedback from employees.
The Safety Stand-Down is an important tool to reach out to our employees to communicate critical information and also to gain their perspective on topics. We strive to be an industry leader in health and safety performance and are committed to our principles, policies and procedures to make each and every date safe at Jamar.
