The Jamar Company, United Piping Inc (UPI), and the J. Koski Company spearheaded a food drive to benefit the mining communities food shelves from February 22 – March 11. The environmental downturn has taken a toll on the families, and subsequently the food shelves. We wanted to help in a practical way to let them know we care about them.

Collectively we donated almost 7,000 pounds of food and $4,000 cash. UPI was the big donor, giving 4,794 pounds of food and $3,400 cash, with The Jamar Company adding 1,700 pounds of food and $460 cash, and J. Koski Company adding 200 pounds of food.

“It feels great to bring all of this food in. Our companies work in these communities, and we feel like we are a part of them. It’s good to give back when these communities are in need”, said Tim Eaton from the Jamar Company.

Ashley Stalvig, from UPI, said, “We had people from over five states donating to this campaign. We had foremen and superintendents asking what they could do to help.”

Overall, it was a great effort. To everyone who donated food, money, or time, THANK YOU! We know the mining community appreciates the support.
